Raku is the most honest firing I do. You pull a piece from the kiln while it's still red, drop it into a metal bin full of leaves, and watch the smoke decide what color the surface will be.

This one came out of the leaves with a halo of copper across the rim. I didn't trust it at first. Now it's the piece I'd grab if the studio caught fire.
